Shanghai social welfare association, which is founded in July of 2003, is the legal

representative of a voluntary, not for profit social organization in Shanghai area
including social welfare services, research institutes, colleges and universities,
and some other social organizations.
This association has 419 members, among which are 12 vice presidents, 71 board of
directors, and 336 regular members. There are five committees in this association
covering management service, standard development and accreditation,rehabilitation,
social welfare work implementation, and social resource development. There are also
local officers in each districts and counties, function as a part of outer network
for secretary.

Every activity that this association is involved will be based on regulation of

professional conduct, self discipline, service protection, promotion development
and enable each member to provide quality service. The association will issue a
periodic named "Shanghai Social Welfare" in order to outreach, exchange
information/news, and increase communication between members. The association will
also organize visiting between members to enhance connection and cooperation. The
association will advance member’s service quality and management through
standardizing services, training program, self discipline, andinspection/evaluatio.

Shanghai social welfare accreditation held by Shanghai social welfare association

is a non government, not for profit, neutral evaluation system.

The duties of this system include: standard development, professional practice

accreditation, consulting service, staff training on evaluation, and providing
related services for government or other social organizations.

The system is subordinated to Shanghai Civil Affairs Bureau, and is registered at

Shanghai Administration Bureau of NGOs. Its activities are totally complied with
government rules and regulations.

This system is operated by people who have already had good reputation in this

field with and rich management experiences.

The object of this system is following professional conduct, providing trustful

service to members, and leading the social welfare services toward a healthier,
more ordered direction.
